Executive Search: how we operate

Financial Assets Executive Search usually starts work on an assignment for a permanent appointment with an exploratory meeting with the client to discuss the job in question. At this meeting, the main terms of reference are agreed in writing.

Next we research and catalogue all the relevant aspects of the job profile. We look at requirements specific to the particular discipline, responsibilities, priorities and challenges facing the business and the culture of the organisation and department. In order to form a proper picture, we like to speak to different people in the organisation if we can.

We then discuss our observations with the client and, together with the client, draw up a job profile covering all relevant skills and the required knowledge, capacities and personal attributes. Having obtained this picture of the ideal candidate, we are then able to suggest the most efficient and effective search method, based on the client’s preferences and our own assessment of the situation.

Using the detailed job profile, we embark on a targeted search in relevant companies and sectors. To find the most suitably qualified candidates, we make use of a very extensive database as well as trawling our network of personal contacts. Potential candidates are discreetly approached to see if they are interested. With the client’s permission, we will also post a job profile on the Financial Assets website. A search may be supported by an advertisement in one of the Dutch dailies or in the trade press.

Search assignments are performed on a team basis. All Financial Assets partners and consultants keep in constant touch with both clients and candidates, giving everyone involved, whether on the supply side or the demand side, the feeling that things are being handled properly and enabling us to make the most effective use of our shared network and combined knowledge

We organise initial interviews with suitable candidates who have expressed an interest. Before any candidates are introduced to a client, they will have been subjected to a thorough assessment on the basis of the job requirements. Acceptable candidates are then introduced to the client. If there is interest in proceeding on both sides, agreements are negotiated between the candidate and client. Our market specialisation and focus means that we will often have been familiar with clients and their track records for a considerable time. Having good contacts with clients can also often lead to valuable and up-to-date market information relating to candidates.

After the initial discussion between client and candidate, there may be further interviews in different parts of the client’s organisation. We act as the first point of contact for both client and candidate throughout this process and make sure both that all the right ground is covered and that the logistics of the operation run as smoothly as possible

On completion of the selection process, Financial Assets continues to support both parties in drawing up the contract of employment and agreeing the benefits package. And we continue to maintain contact with both parties even after the appointee is in post. Appropriate evaluations are made both during and on completion of a search assignment. We use these evaluations to identify points for improvement and to optimise the quality of the service we provide even more.
